My Role and Contributions
Boosting Visibility & Engagement for a Local Nonprofit Theatre
During my internship at Storybook Theatre, I researched their digital and community presence, identified opportunities to increase visibility, audience reviews, and revenue, and presented my findings to the owner. With approval to move forward, I designed marketing materials, optimized digital tools, and supported event promotions—all directly contributing to the theatre’s growth.
Project Highlights
Graphic Design & Marketing: Created flyers, posters, social media graphics, and QR codes to promote events.
Event Promotion: Posted flyers locally and shared materials online to expand audience reach.
SEO & UX Recommendations: Provided actionable recommendations for website improvements; consulted leadership to implement changes.
Team Collaboration & Workflow: Organized Google Workspace to streamline storage and access for marketing and design materials.
Research & Insights: Suggested programming adjustments based on audience needs.
Google Business Optimization (Before & After)
One of my key contributions was optimizing the theatre’s Google Business profile. I updated the address, corrected business hours, and added events like the Walk and Talk Story. This improved the theatre’s visibility on Google Search and Maps, making it easier for locals and tourists to discover upcoming programs.
Before:
Theatre had no verified/updated Google Business page.
Address and hours were missing/inaccurate.
Events were not visible to tourists or community members searching online.
Limited visibility meant potential audiences (especially tourists) were unaware of events.
After:
Claimed and updated the Google Business profile.
Corrected address and hours for accuracy.
Added the Walk and Talk Story event, boosting visibility in Google Search and Maps.
Improved discoverability for tourists searching “things to do in Kauai.”
Supported the theatre’s revenue goals by making events easier to find and attend.
Results
Increased theatre’s visibility on Google Search & Maps.
Raised community awareness through flyers, posters, and event boards.
Streamlined workflows with an organized Google Workspace.
Strengthened the theatre’s ability to attract new audiences and revenue.
Next Steps / Recommendations:
Create TripAdvisor and Yelp pages to promote events like Walk and Talk Story and attract tourist attention.
Continue revising the website:
Condense text-heavy sections for better readability.
Update outdated photos with current performance and event imagery.
Remove old or past events to keep content fresh and relevant.
Further implement SEO and UX improvements to enhance discoverability and audience experience.
